You'll discover how to draw closer to God, build a deeper relationship with Him, and find the peace and direction your heart longs for. Come as you are. Be loved.
FINDING GOD
At some point in life, we all hit moments where we feel disconnected, empty, or overwhelmed. We search for things to fill the gaps—relationships, success, distractions—but nothing really satisfies. The truth is, only God can fill that space.
But here’s the thing: no one else can seek God for you. People can pray for you, encourage you, and walk alongside you, but the journey to know God is personal. You have to want it. God is waiting for you, ready to meet you exactly where you are.
If you’re ready to take that first step, here are a few simple ways to start.
1. Start with an Open Heart
Seeking God isn’t about having it all figured out. You don’t need to fix yourself first or pretend to be okay. God wants the real you—messy, broken, unsure. The first step is simple: be willing to let Him in.
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” —Jeremiah 29:13
Open your heart and say, “God, I’m here. I want to know You.” That’s all it takes to start. God is not far away—He’s already near, waiting for you to invite Him in.
2. Talk to God through Simple Prayer
Prayer doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s just a conversation between you and God. Start small. You can pray in your head, out loud, or even write it down.
Here’s an example of a super simple prayer:
“God, I don’t know what I’m doing, but I want to know You. Please guide me, help me feel Your presence, and show me what You want for my life.”
That’s it. You don’t have to be perfect—just honest. God already knows your heart. He just wants you to come to Him.
“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” —Psalm 145:18
3. Read His Word to Know Him
The Bible is God’s way of speaking directly to us. If you want to understand who God is, what He promises, and how He works, start reading His Word.
A great place to begin is in the New Testament. It tells the story of Jesus—His life, His teachings, and His love for us. Jesus is the perfect reflection of who God is, and by learning about Him, we start to understand God’s heart.
The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) give us a front-row seat to God’s love in action through Jesus. Start there, and you’ll begin to see how Jesus reveals God’s character and promises for your life.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” —John 1:1
4. Be Still and Know He Is God
Life is noisy, and it can be hard to hear God’s voice when our minds are always racing. Being still isn’t easy—but it’s where God meets us. Try spending time in silence, sitting by the beach, walking in nature, or simply sitting quietly in your room. Ask God to speak to you, and be open to what comes.
If silence feels awkward or overwhelming, start by joining a faith community to see how God speaks to others. It’s not that God isn’t speaking—it’s that we aren’t used to listening. Think about it like tuning in to a radio station. If you’re not tuned in, you miss the signal. But the signal is always there. The more time you spend in God’s presence, the easier it becomes to recognize His voice.
God speaks in many ways:
Through Scripture that brings clarity.
Through people who encourage or challenge you.
Through a sense of peace in your heart.
Through doors that open or close in life.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” —Psalm 46:10
5. Surround Yourself with People Who Point You to God
God never intended for us to walk this journey alone. He works through community. Surround yourself with people who will pray with you, encourage you, and remind you of God’s truth when you forget.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” —Proverbs 27:17
Find people who will hold you accountable and push you to grow—not out of judgment, but out of love. Having faith-filled relationships makes all the difference when life gets hard.
6. Trust His Plan, Even When It’s Hard
Seeking God doesn’t mean everything will suddenly get easier. There will be challenges, doubts, and times when God feels far away. That’s when trust matters the most.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” —Proverbs 3:5-6
Trusting God means letting go of control and believing that His plan is better, even when we don’t understand. It’s okay not to have all the answers. God is already working things out for your good.
7. Keep Showing Up, Even When You Don’t Feel It
Faith isn’t about feeling close to God every moment. There will be days when you don’t feel anything. But seeking God means showing up, even when it’s hard.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” —Matthew 5:6
The key is to keep praying, keep reading His Word, and keep seeking Him. God promises that if you seek Him, you will find Him.
Come As You Are and Be Loved
If you’re tired, lost, or just longing for something real, God is waiting for you with open arms. You don’t have to have it all together. Just come as you are.
The world will tell you that you need to earn love and acceptance. But God’s love isn’t like that. He loves you exactly as you are—and He wants to walk with you through every step of your life.
“Come near to God and He will come near to you.” —James 4:8
